The shop grew out of my appreciation and love for beautifully-made “things”.  Even as a child,  I admired the elegance and ambiance of my grandmother’s and great Aunt’s homes – where I stepped back in time to lace tablecloths, carved mahogany furniture, old photographs.  As I grew older, I widened my view.  When beautiful things happened to be handmade with an artistry I admire but do not possess – or if those things were old and had survived their histories and emerged with yet another tale to add – then I was enchanted. 

     Since my small San Francisco flat can hold only so much of these things (and since it is the thrill of the hunt for these things as much the ownership of them which delights me) Lynn offers all those extra additional beautiful things to others who may feel the same way I do.   

     When I looked for a way to describe the shop, a friend found the Emerson saying that opens the pages of this site.  Then – and now – it is the most apt description of what you will find in this shop.  All sorts of new and old and artisan-made things which have ignited my imagination.  I trust that if you have found this site and read this far, you know exactly what I mean.
